Concord Graduate

“Prior to law school I had served as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked retail management, and taught special education for twelve years. I have a BA from UC Irvine and an MA in Special Education from Cal State LA. I received my Juris Doctor from Concord in 2008 and passed the California Bar Exam on my first attempt. Upon hearing that I had passed the bar, several teachers and friends asked if I handled bankruptcies. Since then I have done quite well representing debtors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases. I am admitted to the State Bar of California and to the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California.

I am grateful to Concord for leading me to a new career practicing law. I’m my own boss now and it has been a hugely rewarding experience to be able to help others and make a living doing so.  I now have the freedom to believe anything is possible.”*

“My interest in the law was sparked anew when I found the Concord program, and the spark became a flame of passion for the American rules of law and government once I really became engrossed in the program. Now I’m beginning a new career in law. Without Concord, none of this would have been possible. I want to set aside some time to do pro bono work with a legal aid clinic. It’s one of the main reasons why I wanted to study law. I felt that not only was it something I would like to pursue as a career but ultimately I could use it to help others."*

“I enrolled at Concord Law School in 2000 with the hope of fulfilling my lifelong dream of becoming an attorney. Four years later, I passed the California Bar Exam on my first attempt and was admitted to the California bar. Because I live near Boston, I petitioned and eventually sued in the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts for permission to sit for the bar exam in my home state. Much to my delight, the court granted my request, citing the quality of the education I had received at Concord as one of its reasons. I am now the first online-educated attorney to be admitted to the Massachusetts bar.

In my part-time practice, much of my work is pro bono, where I represent people at no charge. In one such matter, I was able to obtain parole for a client who had been imprisoned for over 23 years on a sentence of ‘3 years to life.’ I have also handled civil matters ranging from contract disputes to patent licensing. It is a privilege to be an attorney, one who can represent the interests of others as their legal counsel, and it wouldn’t have happened were it not for the high caliber of legal education I received at Concord Law School.”*
